Who we are

The Association was born in 2011 from the experience of Dr. Mariavita Ciccarone – gynecologist at the public hospital S. Carlo di Nancy in Rome – following contact with dozens of patients who, due to particularly aggressive therapies, have lost the possibility of have kids. Gemme Dormienti (Dormant Buds) deals with patients aged between 3 and 40 years for the preservation of fertility and for the reduction of ovarian damage. Two important objectives are followed: training and information. The Association also works to raise awareness among institutions through research protocols proposed with oncohematologists, oncologists and other specialists, both university and hospital.
